Practicing calligraphy

I finally had a chance to try out an old calligraphy set that my husband had gotten many years ago, thanks to a new bottle of link I bought for my new fountain pen.

It should come as no surprise that I set out to recreate a typewriter font.

First, I wanted to try out all of the different nibs included in the set. I love the broader ones, especially the last one, which I intend to use for other drawing projects.

Here’s the result of my little practice:

I usually write with a fountain pen, so the practice wasn't entirely new to me. However, writing with bottled link rather than cartridges requires more patience due to the need to dip the nib in ink every now and then. What I liked best, however, was that I reminded myself that writing with a fountain pen involves accepting mishaps, like ink blots and smudges. And more than just accepting, but actually liking the new character and authenticity of the experience that they bring to the page, which the receiver's eye can further appreciate.
