“Wait, what was that book called”?

“Every booklover has one: a book that they’ll never forget reading, though they may never remember what it’s called”. - reads a blurb on the back cover of Marina Luz’s A Library of Misremembered Books. Being a booklover myself, I was immediately intrigued by the book when I saw it in my local library.

It is a beautifully illustrated and amusing little book that brilliantly captures the feeling that those who read are all too familiar with: “The art in these pages is an homage to that universal experience of looking for a beloved book.”

It contains illustrations of imagined books, both based on very general descriptions:

As well as those with more details (however, one could wonder how useful they are):

It was such a joy to flip through the pages that I wish the book were five times the size.

As I was going through the book, I had in mind a particular story that I had enjoyed as a child but couldn't recall the title of. Two boys who didn't know each other exchanged letters by placing them in the hollow of a tree, most likely a chestnut tree. I guess I'll have to look for it now 🙂.
