Trailer Blaze comics residency - call for applications

As someone who hopes to organize my own creative retreats in the future, my goal for this year is to apply to similar retreats and residencies that aling with my interests. I see this goal as a great opportunity to work on pitching my projects, and if I can benefit from spending some solo time working on them and learning how such experiences look behind the scenes, that's a win-win situation for me!

Last year, I learned about the Trailer Blaze Residency, a week-long comics residency in Seaview, Washington. I immediately signed up for the newsletter to be notified when a new call for proposals is issued. And they are currently looking for artists to join the 2023 cohort. The residency will take place from April 2 to 7th and is geared toward female artists.

And here's the best part: you not only have the chance to advance your project and join a fantastic group of creatives. The residency takes place at The Sou’Wester Lodge and Vintage Trailer Park and residents will stay in Airstream trailers or Lodge rooms for its duration. How amazing and unique is that?! I have no problem imagining myself hunched over the drawings for my graphic memoir inside a cozy trailer, going for walks on the beach in my spare time, or starting my days with a little typing session in the woods on my trusted typewriter... ☺️.

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in too, you can learn more about it here and apply until February 28th. Good luck!
