The Hospital Suite by John Porcellino

I was drawn to John Porcellino's The Hospital Suite after reading his book From Lone Mountain. The book was published in 2014, making it an early addition to the field of graphic medicine.

In the book, John Porcellino details his lifelong battles with physical and mental illness, ranging from anxiety as a teen to auto-immune disorders as an adult.

I admire anyone who has the courage to share their struggles with the world in a memoir, so that others may understand what they're going through. The same is true of Porcellino, with the addition that he is a well-known artist, and through the book, we were able to see how the diseases affected his ability to be creative and make comics.
