Turning my handwriting into a font

I’ve been thinking lately about making a font out of my handwriting for illustrations when I came across a great resource in Laura Athayde's Domestika course, Drawing for Comics with Procreate.

The website I’ve used is called Calligraphr. The process was easier than I had anticipated. While they recommend printing out the template to write on and then scanning and uploading the page, I found a useful tutorial on YouTube by Amy Makes That that explains how to use it in Procreate.

Both the video and the Calligraph tutorial explain the process well, so I’m only showing you my template and the end result here. It took me 30 minutes to create my font only because I had to watch another tutorial by Amy on how to install and import fonts with Procreate. I wanted to add Polish characters as well, but the free version only allows for 65 characters.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome, given that this was my first try. However, my naturally cursive handwriting produced by my left hand does not show as much as it usually does. I believe this is because I was subconsciously influenced by the template underneath and it’s difficult to achieve that effect when you write your letters one by one. But I think I managed to achieve the imperfect and a little sloppy character I was aiming for.
