My new comic on the Ilizarov frame published in Intima

Exciting news! My comic, Beyond Broken: The Science of Bone Lengthening and My Ilizarov Story, has been published in the Fall 2024 issue of Intima: A Journal of Narrative Medicine.

In this piece, I dive into both the scientific and personal layers of living with the Ilizarov frame—a tool that became central to my experience with disability. Through both art and narrative, I’ve woven together the history of bone-lengthening science with my own story, sharing the resilience, pain, and transformation that accompanied me on this journey.

This publication has been a meaningful milestone, allowing me to contribute to the conversation on medicine and patient experience through narrative medicine. I hope it resonates with readers, shedding light on the emotional landscape of healing.
