Following little community libraries

I was familiar with the concept of free community libraries, where books can be left to provide reading opportunities to others, but I was usually a sporadic visitor. Recently, it has become my habit to follow those established within the Little Free Library movement in my neighborhood as part of my Sunday walks. I am lucky to have six of them within one mile of my house.

The genre of books (as well as the looks of the library boxes) changes with the setting: from faith related publications at a library near a church where I begin my walk, through fiction and romance in the nearby residential area, to children's books in front of an elementary school.

The libraries I have visited so far in the U.S., both Little Free Libraries and other community libraries, offered some real gems, including Show Your Work by Austin Kleon, If You Feel Too Much by Jamie Tworkowski, or Journeys of Simplicity by Philip Harnden

I plan to build a library like this in front of my place one day.

Happy hunting and reading!
