Differences between medical interpreters and translators: a zine

As I prepare for the 2023 Graphic Medicine Conference in Toronto, I wanted to go the extra mile and offer something informative and engaging to those attending my talk. Inspired by the incredible zines distributed by Jill Greenbaum or Rodrigo Peniche and Emmanuel Peña at last year’s conference, I decided to make my own zine. In my piece, I explore the distinctions between the work of medical interpreters and translators. Using colorful illustrations, a concise narrative, and a compact format, my goal was to captivate and educate the audience at the same time.

So, if you’re attending the 2023 Graphic Medicine Conference, be sure to stop by my session to get a copy of the zine. The zine will also be made available digitally for those unable to attend the conference. Keep an eye out for updates on my website, where you’ll soon find a dedicated tab housing all my comics about medical interpretation.
