Creating a graphic memoir: comic lettering by hand

I came across this quote by Art Spiegelman in the Graphic Medicine Manifesto:

When I first started working on my graphic memoir, I knew I wanted to use my handwriting to make the memoir more personal. I ended up using the font I designed earlier this year based on my handwriting because it allows me to rearrange text much more easily. I understand that not everyone likes their handwriting and that it is not always decipherable. However, if this is not the case, I encourage you to use your own handwriting rather than pre-made fonts when creating comics because it brings YOU to the page.
