Children’s literature: What’s Cooking in Flowerville?

I enjoy children’s literature and books about food, so when I learned about Felicita Sala's book, What’s Cooking in Flowerville? Recipes from Balconies, Rooftops, and Gardens (2021), I knew I had to read it. It is a lovely picture book that teaches us about different cultures through food and encourages us to appreciate diversity. I love how the book includes recipes from different families as well as information about how food is grown. As an aspiring author of children picture books, I deeply enjoyed studying the imaginary world created by Sala through illustrations and narrative, and I can't wait to pick up her other works.
